Dev Release-197

BlockDAG Dev Update: Sync Fixes, Explorer 2.0 & X1/X10 Integration

This weekly developer release outlines the latest technical updates and ongoing development efforts across the BlockDAG ecosystem. From blockchain stability improvements to new Explorer features and hardware integration, this update aims to keep our community informed, engaged, and excited about what's ahead.

Key Highlights

  • Node synchronization issues on the Primordial network have been addressed; fix under active observation.
  • Phase 2 of the Explorer initiated, with a redesigned UI and powerful filtering tools.
  • X1 Miner and X10 hardware integration is progressing, with finalized designs and collaborative implementation.
  • Continued emphasis on ecosystem-wide stability and developer experience

Why It Matters

Every advancement made whether on the chain, in the tools, or in the user interface directly supports our mission to create a fast, decentralized, and user-friendly infrastructure for the next generation of blockchain applications. These updates not only solve technical pain points but also lay the groundwork for a smoother and more scalable experience across all BlockDAG platforms.

Blockchain Updates

Over the past few weeks, the core engineering team has focused on resolving the node synchronization issues affecting the Primordial testnet. This problem was causing irregular sync behaviors and affecting peer-to-peer communication between nodes.

  • A comprehensive fix has been developed and deployed within the Primordial environment.
  • The network is currently in an observation phase, where the team is closely monitoring node performance, data propagation, and network health for any further anomalies.
  • This fix is critical as it ensures data consistency and node reliability, which are foundational to a robust and scalable blockchain.
  • Once confidence is established in its long-term stability, this solution will be formally rolled out to the broader network.

This ongoing refinement is part of our commitment to build a production-grade, high-throughput DAG-based blockchain that developers and users can rely on.

Explorer Updates

With the successful rollout of the basic Explorer, we're excited to announce that Phase 2 of the Explorer's development is now officially underway.

  • Filter Features: We’re adding advanced filtering tools, which will allow users to search, sort, and filter blocks, transactions, wallets, and more with ease. This dramatically improves navigability and data accessibility.
  • Layout Redesign: A completely new user interface has been approved. This redesign will:
    • Improve mobile and desktop usability
    • Enhance performance with better data rendering
    • Provide a modern and intuitive experience tailored to both developers and casual users
  • The designs have been reviewed and approved by all stakeholders, and development on this new layout will begin in the coming sprint.

This is a crucial step toward making the Explorer not just functional but a go-to analytics hub for all things BlockDAG.

X1 and 10 Integration Updates

Integration efforts between the X1 mining app and X10 hardware device are progressing rapidly. These updates are essential as we aim to make BlockDAG mining accessible, efficient, and user-friendly.

  • Design Finalization: All Figma designs for the integration have been completed. They cover end-to-end user interactions—from onboarding and device pairing to real-time mining stats and firmware updates.
  • Development in Progress: Our team has started implementing these designs. This includes:
    • Connecting the app to X10 hardware for real-time communication
    • Ensuring seamless handling of mining sessions
    • Building logic to manage device status, errors, and updates
  • Ongoing Collaboration: The dev team is working hand-in-hand with the X10 hardware team to optimize the performance and user experience. This includes exploring various edge cases and unexpected behaviors to ensure the miner works reliably across different environments.

By aligning hardware and software, we’re setting the stage for a plug-and-play mining experience—one that lowers the barrier to entry and rewards users for securing the network.

Fixed Issues

Node Synchronization:
A major sync issue that caused delays and disconnections across nodes in the Primordial network has been fixed. The resolution involved optimizing consensus logic and peer communication protocols. It is currently under observation to validate long-term stability.

Open Issues

  • Post-fix Monitoring:
The team continues to watch the behavior of the Primordial network closely. Although the sync fix is performing well, we're assessing whether any secondary issues emerge over time.
  • X1/X10 Edge Cases:
As integration proceeds, several edge cases related to connectivity, firmware updates, and app responsiveness are being logged and addressed.
  • Explorer Performance Tuning:
During early Phase 2 development, some performance tuning opportunities have been identified, especially around how large datasets are rendered. These will be tackled as part of the redesign.

Next Steps

  • Complete testing and finalize node synchronization fix rollout to the main network
  • Begin full implementation of the redesigned Explorer UI
  • Continue building out and optimizing X1/X10 device integration
